Geoff Phillips

Product Management Expert

As a Product Management Expert, Geoff Phillips drives innovation around new product development from ideation to product launch and life cycle management. He is an 18-year veteran of the automotive industry and the wealth of knowledge he has acquired in that time makes him uniquely qualified for this role.

After graduating from the University of California with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Geoff joined Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California.  Dispirited when he discovered he would not be allowed to test fly the product, Geoff enrolled at Stanford University where he completed an MS in Manufacturing Systems Engineering with an emphasis in Microprocessor Based Design.  He promptly moved to Dearborn to work for Ford Motor Company, where he was finally allowed to get his hands on the product.  He worked on several new vehicle programs including the Explorer, Mustang, and Transit.

To gain additional exposure to business issues, Geoff enrolled in the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan where he received an MBA with an emphasis on Marketing and Corporate Strategy.  He took his newfound knowledge to the Strategic Change Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers where he helped develop corporate strategies to take advantage of the new fangled Internet.

Missing the smell of gasoline and rubber, Geoff went back to the automotive industry at General Motors’ Corporate Strategy Group in Detroit.  He then moved to the GM Accessories business as a Program Manager where he was responsible for the Cadillac Accessories business.  He worked through various assignments in Product Marketing, Program Management, and Product Development both in the United States and Europe.  He left GM in 2009 and settled in the Boston Area.

In Boston Geoff went to work for one of the local utilities, NSTAR, as a Product & Marketing Strategist in Product Development.  At NSTAR Geoff developed a segmentation model for Commercial & Industrial customers and working with Sales, Engineering, and Implementation developed targeted go-to-market strategies for individual customer segments.

Geoff currently resides in Brookline, Massachusetts with his two yellow labs. He enjoys spending time with his dogs and sailing, and he is proud to volunteer with many educational organizations.
